Armin Pialek

BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt
Project Manager
Since early 2012, Armin Piálek has worked on a variety of different projects for the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt. He is particularly passionate about pro bono, impact business, and social innovation, which have indeed been the focus of his work to date.
Armin holds a master’s degree in Eastern European studies with a focus on politics and economics from Freie Universität Berlin, and completed his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Economics at the University of Bayreuth in 2009. During his studies, he spent a semester abroad at the University Paris Sorbonne-Panthéon and worked as a conference intern with Oxford Analytica in the UK.
Armin is a born networker and is extremely well connected inside the global network of the BMW Foundation. He counts numerous Responsible Leaders among his friends, not just on Facebook but also in real life. His energy level tends to be higher than that of most people. This is why Armin is usually the last one at the hotel, and the first one in front of the flip charts while running a half marathon in between.
During the Foundation’s various programs and formats, Armin is very much in demand both as a charming host and savvy organizer of all kinds of sports activities. The soccer tournament he organized at the 5th World Responsible Leaders Forum in Munich’s English Garden remains an unforgettable experience.
Since his family comes from Czechoslovakia, Armin has a soft spot for Eastern Europe, particularly Russia. Before studying, he worked as a nurse in the intensive care unit of the 3rd Moscow State Hospital, where he even occasionally assisted in the delivery room. True to the motto: Do what you can! Armin attended a bilingual grammar school in Berlin – his hometown and his favorite city
